Wisdom teeth, the last of our adult teeth to grow in, can become misaligned or impacted, with serious implications to our dental health. Early removal of wisdom teeth is the usual treatment to prevent damage caused by these problems.
Wisdom Teeth Extraction
When it's time for your wisdom teeth to begin to grow and emerge, usually at age 16-18, we'll X-ray and examine your teeth and jaw to see if they are growing in correctly. If they are misaligned or growing incorrectly, we'll usually recommend extraction of one, several, or all of your wisdom teeth.
Extraction is a surgical procedure done under a local or general anesthetic. The length and complexity of the surgery depends on the number of teeth to be removed and any complicating factors. We offer optional conscious sedation to help manage pain and anxiety during the procedure.
